About Us
Sylvia Pauling, M.A., LPC, is the President/CEO of the Pauling Institute Inc. Ms. Pauling is a License Professional Counselor and has worked in the area of mental health for over twenty (20) years. Ms. Pauling uses a holistic approach to psychotherapy. Ms. Pauling has a special interest in how domestic violence intersects with child welfare and domestic violence in faith-based communities. She is currently a member of the D.C. Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board.
Ms. Pauling has developed community and faith-based interventions in domestic violence, relationship education, and mental health with a focus on strengthening the family as a whole. Ms. Pauling is a Certified Danger Assessor and a DC Victim Assistance Academy Graduate. Ms. Pauling received her B.S. Degree in Psychology from South Carolina State University, M.A. Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Trinity College and is currently a candidate for a Doctorate in Public Policy and Administration at Walden University.
In a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary outpatient mental health practice, Ms. Pauling provides individual, couples, family and group psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and adults.
